How do I change my appointment?

Please call MY Eye Clinic on 0191 519 7288 (open Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm) or email and we will be happy to help. 

Can someone accompany me?

You are welcome to bring someone along with you to your appointment. Please note you are advised not to drive following a surgery appointment. 

Can I drive following surgery?

Following surgery, we strongly advise that you do not drive as you may have a patch placed over the eye. Unless you are using public transport, we strongly advise someone accompanies you to the appointment who is suitable to drive. 

How long will my appointment last?

Your assessment appointment will last approximately 30 -45 minutes. Surgical procedures can vary in length, you be advised at the time of booking your surgery appointment. 

Will I need an anaesthetic?

All operations at Gosforth Private Clinic are carried out using local anaesthetic to numb the skin making surgery as pain free as possible, you will remain awake during your procedure. Surgery requiring general anaesthetic will be carried out at Sunderland Eye Infirmary as a private patient.

When do you hold clinics?

MY Eye Clinic schedule clinics on weekdays, evenings and weekends.   

Can I have a home visit?

MY Eye Clinic do not provide home visits to patients. 

Do I need an appointment or can I turn up to the clinic?

You will need an appointment prior to attending the clinic, unfortunately we do not provide a walk-in service.  

Is MY Eye Clinic registered with the CQC?

Minor Ops Ltd (trading as My Eye Clinic) and Gosforth Private Clinic are both registered with the Care Quality Commission. 


Do you have disabled access?

Our clinic is located on the ground floor with full disabled access.

Is parking available?

Yes, the clinic has a small patient car park at the front of the clinic offering free parking. Alternatively, short stay pay and display parking is available to the East of Linden Road (30p per hour, max 2 hour stay) or you can park in the nearby Gosforth Centre multi-storey (30p per hour, max 2 hour stay or St Nicholas Avenue car park (30p per hour, max 2 hours).   

How old do I have to be to be seen by MY Eye Clinic?

My Eye Clinic accepts patients aged 16 years and over. 

How long will it take me to recover from surgery?

The healing rate differs from person to person, post-operative advice to aid a speedy recovery will be provided by your consultant.
